Athlete's Foot

Athlete’s foot is caused by fungus. It is not a predisposition of athletes, as anybody can developed athletes foot. It can be caused by warm weather and exercise in which the feet sweat, allowing moisture to accumulate in the shoe. The darkness of tight shoes helps the fungus to grow. The infection can start between the toes and as a result, the feet feel itchy and hot sometimes small yellow blisters appear. Scratching can spread the infection.
Treatment

• Keep feet as dry as possible
• A topical antifungal medication can be prescribed to treat the fungus on the skin and inside the shoes
• Do not walk barefoot in public areas
